| Named among the nation’s best new golf courses by Golf Magazine and Golf Digest when it opened in 1988, Sedona Golf Resort is widely considered among the most beautiful golf courses ever conceived. A major reason for the hyperbole surrounding Sedona Golf Resort are the famed red-rock spires of this northern Arizona region which dominate the landscape and create spectacular, almost “other-worldly” views from nearly every vantage point on the property. However, the golf course itself more than lives up to the drama its backdrop provides. Designed by celebrated Scottsdale-based architect Gary Panks, Sedona Golf Resort presents a thrilling layout that flows through a cedar-strewn valley between two imposing mesas. The substantial shifts in terrain make for some rollicking challenges and offer many truly breathtaking vantage points. The course starts with subtle par 4 then builds to a crescendo on the back nine. In fact the sweeping view of Cathedral Rock from the tee on No. 10 is one of the most moving in all of Arizona golf. The round ends with a short par 4 that’s a real thriller. At just 336 yards from the tips and featuring a dramatically elevated tee shot that produces tremendous carry, Sedona’s finishing hole begs for players to gamble. Crush this one with your driver, and you’ll be bragging about it all week. In addition to the golf course, Sedona Golf Resort
also recently opened a beautiful new 17,000-square-foot clubhouse which
provides a full-service golf shop, meeting space, men’s and women’s
locker rooms and a 150-seat dining area that serves breakfast and lunch
daily. The clubhouse features an expansive patio with excellent views
of the red rocks, cozy fireplaces and barbecue grills.
