Founded in the 1800’s as a mining town, Bisbee is now home to a unique blend of historical and artistic culture. This Old West mining camp proved to be one of the richest mineral sites in the world.

Bisbee’s Queen Mine was one of the wealthiest copper mines in history. The mine opened in 1877 and eventually closed when Phelps Dodge discontinued mining operations in Bisbee in the mid–1970’s. The Queen Mine opened once again as a tour for visitors in 1976, nearly 100 years after the mine originally opened.
To take the tour, enter the changing house, pick up your mine token, and get outfitted with your slicker, helmet and miner’s headlamp. Board the mine train and descend into the mine. Tours are conducted by miners who worked in the mines and tell their own stories from personal experiences.

Tours leave from the Queen Mine Tour Building located immediately south of Old Bisbee's business district, off the U.S. 80 interchange. Tours are available 5 times a day, 7 days a week. For more information, call 1-866-432-2071.

Bisbee has since evolved into an attractive artist colony. Bisbee’s charming streets are packed with art galleries, antique shops, gourmet restaurants, coffee houses, bookstores and specialty shops. The fine collection of well-preserved turn of the century Victorian structures are full of old west history and copper mining lore. Old miners' boarding houses have been refurbished into many quaint bed and breakfast establishments, of which no two are alike. Former saloons are now interesting shops, antique stores, art galleries, cafes and gourmet restaurants.
Travelers from all over the world come to Bisbee to savor its unique charm ... an uncommon blend of creativity, friendliness, style, romance and adventure — all wrapped in the splendor of the Old West.
